Lettuce Begin
Spring 2009 – the start of a new growing season – AND a new campaign that just happens to be called
"Lettuce Begin."
In fact, Kids First and the Children's Garden Network (CGN) are joining forces to provide the incentive, the ingredients and the tools to start growing your own food right now.
The goal is to encourage your school or youth organization (and by extension Moms, Dads and families) to plant a spring crop of lettuce & other greens to learn how food grows and to enjoy the nutritional benefits of these cool weather crops.
Your school or organization can also win some green - dollars that is! Each school that registers their school garden program on the CGN website directory along with a picture and story of their "Lettuce Begin" project will be entered into a drawing for cash prizes. !0 awards of $50 each will be given to the winners. Photos and stories must be posted by June 15, 2009 to qualify.
