Let's Get Serious

...it's 2010!

The Children's Garden Network started with a goal – to assist communities to grow garden education programs at every school and youth organization in Rhode Island by 2010. Lots of folks are engaged in school and youth gardens. You're doing great. But we're not there yet. And the clock is ticking!

In the past three years, we've worked with schools, whole school districts, teachers and community leaders to inspire and assist as many programs as we can. Today some 70 programs are registered in the CGN Directory but we know there are many more out there that simply have not been registered yet. Then there are those visions just waiting to get some ground underneath them. How can we help you?

A garden program everywhere is very doable. Easy. Piece a cake. Put a team in place to manage and monitor your garden program year-round; register your garden program or vision ASAP so we can find you and others can learn from your progress. Ask for help and use this website and its many friends and resources; follow the recommendations here to help you reach your goal – and ours. We know you can do it.

We also welcome schools and organizations outside of Rhode Island too! Folks from across the country – and outside the US - have joined our network because we are one of the very few such networks anywhere. And because we have a plan that can become your plan.

So don't wait. It's 2010! Call or write us and register your garden program or vision now. A garden at every school and youth organization is simply a matter of numbers. Believe it and it will happen. Grow it and they will come. Lots of them.

Together we can make 2010 a year to celebrate children's gardens everywhere. And your wonderful efforts to make it so.
