On September 25, 2008 we were happy to welcome 27 volunteer workers from the area SHAWS grocery stores to work on our sensory garden. It was a perfect day- the students worked along side the volunteers and they worked from 730 am till 4 00 amm. They finished the pergola, planted all the sensory plants, put in 6 - 8 foot long by 4 foot wide trex benches and put in a wheel chair accessible raised herb planter box. The chimes were hung by the career and tech students from the high school- the students enjoyed striking them and feeling the vibrations as well as hearing the different tones that the 100 year old empty propane tanks made. We also received a check for $3000.00 from SHAWS corporate headquarters in Mass to fund our garden.
