About Our Program

As inhabitants of our planet and members of our school community, we recognize the shared responsibility of each one of us to be respectful stewards of the Earth. Education for Sustainability has been an important focus at Lincoln throughout this past year. Moreover, one goal of the Lincoln School Strategic Plan 2007 states," Lincoln School will deliberately foster both institutional and individual responsibility for the environment."

These values planted the "seeds" for a special collaborative garden initiative on our campus. This spring will witness the creation of the Edible Schoolyard Garden at Lincoln. Organic herbs, vegetables and flowers will be grown and harvested in the garden and the Southside Community Land Trust will serve as our advisor. The garden will be a place of learning and enjoyment for children, teachers and parents.
