About Our Program

We are very fortunate to have 14 acres of land with existing nature trails. We use the trails as a teaching tool for much of our curriculum, with all age groups, ranging from infant to 12 yrs. of age.

The teachers and parents of DDCCDC have formed a committee that we call FERNS (Families Engaged in Rediscovering our Natural Surroundings). Our goal is to raise children to become good stewards of the Earth by educating them about their environment through experiential learning.

We have recently completed a Wildlife Habitat that is certified by the National Wildlife Foundation, and a "Secret Garden", complete with tree house, that is used primarily for reading, meditating, and other quiet lessons.

We have future plans to create a vegetable garden, a music garden, a meditation labyrinth, an herb garden, an art garden, a running and climbing area, and a sand + water area. We are desperately in need of funding.
