About Our Program

Building on the Southside Community Land Trust's (SCLT) 25+ year history with youth garden projects in the greater Providence area, our after-school Youth Garden Club at Bailey Elementary School will be beginning its 5th year next spring!

In partnership with Providence YMCA Youth Services, SCLT will continue to work with young people at Bailey to design, plant, cultivate, harvest, and eat from this youth-driven garden classroom.

The Bailey Youth Garden is accessible to teachers as an extension of their classroom, provides garden education and inspiration to the greater South Providence community, and offers hands-on education for Youth Garden Club members in the after-school program.

We have 10 raised beds in our garden for annual vegetables and flowers, a perennial and annual flower and herb bed along the front of the garden, and we are hoping to add blueberry bushes along the back of our garden as well as an outdoor workspace/picnic table.

Any donations of blueberry bushes or a public park-style picnic bench would be greatly appreciated!
