Choosing a Leader
A good leader will make your garden education program better and more efficient. Look for these skills and characteristics in your leader:
- Personable, can work with a variety of people types and temperaments
- Passionate about their own involvement, but will not interfere with the group process
- Sets the tone and temperament for the group
- Doesn't do everything, but ensures that everything gets done when it must get done
- Good delegator, can handle chaos and knows how to take care of people
- Thinks two steps ahead of everyone else
- Serves as the voice & face of the organization – always available to speak and be seen in public, at events and when asked

Consider picking a leader after your team has begun to work together regularly.
