Run a Successful Year-Round Garden Program

It helps to put things in a more immediate context and focus in addressing issues more clearly and efficiently.

  1. Develop with your team your garden education program mission, vision & goals.
  2. Establish a list of seasonal and year-long activities.
  3. Create a needs list for all garden education program activities.
  4. Once defined, distribute materials to your team members and to volunteers & candidates for positions with your team.
  5. Put a schedule of organizational meetings together for the next three to six months.
  6. Broadcast your meeting dates and times well in advance.
  7. Keep your team/the group size manageable so decisions can be made easily and efficiently.
  8. Get personal commitments from key team members for one year to ensure that you have the continuity and consistency of effort that you will need.
