Ask These Questions

Have several discussions about financial expectations and goals and how your team will plan to meet them.

  1. How will your school/youth organization define your garden education program? As an extra curricula? Within the curriculum? After-school program? Other?
  2. Where will your garden education program be found in your school/youth organization budget? As a stand alone budget? A line item in the budget? Other?
  3. Where do dollars for extra curricula programs at your school/organization currently derive?
  4. What garden elements, structures, products or services do you anticipate you will most need ASAP to run a successful garden education program for this or the coming year?
  5. How much will it cost to acquire them?
  6. What do you believe might be a realistic overall budget for your garden education program this coming year?
  7. How much funding do you think you can raise in the next six months (e.g.)?
  8. From what sources do you anticipate you will be able to raise funds for your garden program this year?
  9. Who will be in charge of your fundraising efforts?
