The Children's Garden Network 2009 Winter School sponsored by Whole Foods Market and hosted by the URI/CELS Outreach Center at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

Instructor: Mary Beth Miller, Horticultural Therapist, Past Board Member, the American Horticultural Therapy Association

Teachers please note: All attendees will receive Certificate of Attendance documentation that can be applied to I-plan or other professional development credit.

Learn about the concepts and methods needed to meet RI Alternate Assessment Standards and therapeutic goals. Using actual case studies, participants will engage in hands-on activities that demonstrate approaches to benefit students with special needs. Designed for special educators and clinicians, this session will include an overview of the necessary planning and logistical steps to program success including: designing plant and nature activities to student's needs; reaching desired outcomes; understanding plants, supplies and site considerations.

  • There are no cash refunds for no-shows. However, you may send someone in your place if you cannot attend.
  • If you are not able to attend, you will receive a credit toward another CGN Winter school session or future program.
  • Cash refunds will be given only in the event of a CGN program cancellation.
